Tete a Tete
Artist Chuck Alexander and I have been collaborating for some time on large (5' x 4') portraits. Our medium is Charcoal and Oil on heavy, gessoed paper. The faces are projected from photographs of celebrities, then sketched in for a basic reference. From there we jump off into a creative dance, one stepping in to paint, and then the other. The pieces become exercises in freedom and trust, each image morphing into its own personality. Size gives them their real power - as do the eyes - which take on a life of their own and often surprise even Chuck and me. Twelve so far - and counting....
